A lot has been said about how fantastic the new version of iTunes is, and I’ve got to say, by and large I agree – it’s a substantial and much needed improvement over the previous major releases of iTunes. It looks and feels cleaner, and responds much faster. That being said, I’m noticing some real oddities and changes that just don’t make sense:
- Double click on window title no longer minimises the window. It just gets ignored. This behaviour is contrary to just about every Apple app I can think of or immediately test.
- When a play list ends and you click “Play” again on the mini player, you don’t repeat the play list (as per previous versions); iTunes automatically starts playing a new random selection.
- iTunes seems obstinately insistent on running play lists in random order rather than assigned order, going so far as to turn the randomiser back on between sessions of the play list. (Particularly when (2), above, has happened.)
I’ve replicated this behaviour on 3 different Macs so far (out of a total of 3 attempted) – 100% success rate. I really, really hope each is a bug rather than a new intended feature.
