I’m not a sales person, but I’m fairly certain if you were assembling a few basic rules of sales, a key one would be “make it easy for your customer to buy from you”.
HP seem to work from another book. A book written in, published in, maintained in and directed from Bizarro-World. “Ungh. Make customer suffer.”
Simple example: go to www.hp.com.au and search for “reseller australia”:
So there’s 4 recommended links there. All of them look pretty useful to me. And all of them, when clicked, yields a broken link to what is clearly an internal-only website:
This is not a unique example. The HP websites seem to have one overriding design requirement: “Make it suck.”
This is simple stuff, and it’s honestly ridiculous that HP can’t get it right. HP bleeding cash? HP making stupid acquisitions then product closures? HP making massive write-offs of business divisions? HP hiring CEO after CEO after CEO? HP declaring divisions dead, then reactivating them again?
Who’d be surprised? It sometimes seems the only thing these guys are good at is failing.
